Okaaay!!!
Sie haben ja angedeutet das der Track schnell und etwas brutaler (richtiger Ausdruck?) daherkommen soll. Vor ein paar Tagen habe ich einen Link zugeschickt bekommen, in dem auch der anscheinende neue Track von DT sein sollte. Das Lied war knappe 11 min. lang und ein ganz andere wie dieser hier. Wahrscheinlich nicht der gleiche. Es ist auf jeden Fall ein interessantes Stück. Muss natürlich jetzt noch ein paar mal reinhören.

DREAM THEATER TO SUPPORT IRON MAIDEN ON NORTH AMERICAN SUMMER TOUR

TO PLAY NYC’S FAMED MADISON SQUARE GARDEN FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THEIR CAREER

New York, NY:
Prog rock/metal institution DREAM THEATER will spend their summer supporting Iron Maiden on the band’s month-long tour of major US and Canadian markets. The tour launches on June 9 and runs through July 20, and includes a stop at the storied Madison Square Garden in NYC, marking the first time in a lengthy and respected career that Dream Theater have played the world’s most famous arena.

This tour will mark another milestone in Dream Theater’s history, which continues to expand and evolve twenty-five years deep.

Of touring with Iron Maiden in North America, drummer Mike Portnoy said, “It is a bit of a dream come true for us. After 25 years together, at this stage in our career, there's honestly only three bands Dream Theater would consider opening for and Maiden is one of them. It is an absolute honor. Through the years, we've done many one-off shows with Maiden and they've almost all been overseas. It is very exciting to finally be doing a full tour with them and on our side of the pond no less. These are gonna be amazing shows that the fans won't want to miss. Up the f***ing irons!”

Playing MSG for the first time is also a huge accomplishment for the band and they are thrilled about the prospect. “Dream Theater has achieved so many dreams through the years, from playing the Budokan in Tokyo to Wembley Arena in London to Radio City Music Hall in NYC,” Portnoy recalled. “But the one remaining dream that has eluded us through all of these years was to play at Madison Square Garden. Well, on July 12, along with Iron Maiden, that dream will finally be fulfilled.”

Guitarist John Petrucci was equally stoked about the MSG play, saying, “I am unbelievably excited to be finally playing Madison Square Garden, and with the almighty Maiden to boot! They have been heroes to the band since the beginning and are iconic in our eyes. There is nothing like achieving success and recognition in your own country, in your own city. It's going to be an incredible night for sure.”

Portnoy has proof of this career-long dream, saying, “About a month ago my family and I were watching a video of my first band Intruder from back in 1983, and in the video before the show, I was interviewed and asked what my dream goal was. I responded ‘to play the Garden.’It took almost 30 years, but it’s surreal that I will now be able to check it off the list.”

Dream Theater’s Black Clouds & Silver Linings was released in 2009 and debuted at #6 on the Billboard Top 200 Sales chart.

Um jetzt nicht den Communic Thread mit DT voll zu spammen, hier mal eben die beiden herausragenden Songs auf "Awake", die es auf jede Top 10 of DT in meinem kleinen Musikuniversum schaffen würden:

Insgesamt ist das Album klasse, aber natürlich neben Images And Words schon ne Liga tiefer.

Fand übrigens das Review zu "Images And Words" im Prog-Special von Boris Kaiser ziemlich gut. Das Album wird heute gerne mal als zu melodiös etc. abgetan. Aber er hat völlig Recht damit wenn er sagt, dass das sehr wohl Prog ist. Ich denke eine bessere Kombination aus Anspruch und Melodien hat es selten gegeben. Würde das Album heutzutage erscheinen würde es auch alle plätten. Das ist einfach ein Jahrhundertwerk und hätte eigentlich auf Platz 1 stehen müssen. Und das obwohl "Scenes" ja bekanntermaßen fast noch besser ist.

Wenn man dabei war als das Debüt erschienen ist und sich an das Gefühl erinnert als man diese zum ersten Mal gehört hat, dann ist diese mal ganz einfach das beste moderne Progalbum. Punkt. Da stimmt einfach alles dran. Undes ist bei mir sogar noch gewachsen im Ansehen. Herrlcihes Teil und ohne Frage - und das ist jetzt mal tatsächlich ein Fakt - ein 10 Punkte Werk.

Ähnlich ging es mir als ich das IAW Advance tape zum ersten Mal im AUto gehört habe. Da habe ich mit einem Freund im Schneesturm im unbeheizten Auto gesessen und zwei Mal das Teil angehört und danach gab es Alkohol zum Aufwärmen.

Das erste Konzert in der Markthalle zu HH, wo auch Kollege Frank zugegen war, zählt nach wie vor zu meinen imaginären Top 10 Gigs. Trotz 20 + Male Psychotic Waltz und unzählige Tori AMos Konzerte. Es war magisch. Danach konnten sie für mich nur schlechter werden. Wobei ich fair bleiben muss und sagen muss, dass es nur marginal schlechter wurde. Mit der Scenes wurde dann sogar beinahe die Qualität nochmal erreicht. Ab "Awake" - was habe ich mich damals durch die härteren Songs dieser Pantera goes kompliziert gequält. Bis heute ist es bei der Quälerei geblieben. Dieser unglaublich nervige Gitarrensound geht überhaupt nicht. Null Feeling.
